FIFA has urged the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to call off a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, warning that the gathering appears to violate the federation’s constitution.

In a letter addressed to FKF President and copied to other officials, FIFA Senior Manager for Governance Services Bruno Comicholi said the meeting did not appear to comply with Article 38 of the FKF Constitution, which governs the convening and conduct of NEC meetings.

FIFA questioned the validity of the request used to convene the meeting, noting that it had originally been submitted on May 26, 2026.

Comicholi observed that FKF had subsequently held an NEC meeting on July 11 and issued notices for other meetings, raising questions about whether the original request could still serve as a valid basis for convening another gathering.

The letter further revealed that two of the original signatories had formally withdrawn their support for the request.

“In these circumstances, it would appear that the request of 26 May 2026 can no longer be relied upon as a valid procedural basis for convening the meeting of 4 November 2026,” Comicholi stated.

He added that the conditions allowing NEC members to convene a meeting independently under Article 38.2 did not appear to have been met.

FIFA consequently called on FKF to refrain from holding Wednesday’s meeting and urged the federation to ensure that all future NEC meetings are convened in strict accordance with its constitution.

The intervention adds a new dimension to the governance dispute within Kenyan football, with the federation now facing pressure to ensure that its executive decisions comply with its own statutes.

FIFA said its request was intended to safeguard the proper functioning of FKF’s statutory bodies and ensure adherence to the federation’s constitutional provisions.

The letter, however, did not outline any disciplinary measures against FKF or its officials, instead urging the federation to take the necessary steps to address the procedural concerns.
