Avenews, an agri-trade fintech company focused on improving access to finance in Kenya’s agricultural sector, has been named the Leading Fintech in Agri Trade Financing at the Digitally Fit Awards.

The recognition highlights Avenews’ work in bridging funding gaps for small and medium-sized agribusinesses — including stockists, distributors, and processors — through digital financial solutions that promote transparency and trust in agri trade.

Accepting the award, Nancy Kinyanjui, Managing Director of Avenews Kenya, acknowledged the company’s partners, customers, and regulators for their support.

“This recognition is a reflection of collective effort,” she said. “We’ve built Avenews to address the challenges that have kept agri-SMEs from accessing fair and timely financing.”

Kinyanjui noted that many agribusinesses remain underserved by traditional lenders. “They’re often too big for community-level funding but too small or complex for commercial banks. Avenews exists to close that gap,” she said.

She added that the company’s compliance with Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) standards is key to maintaining trust and integrity in the sector.

The Digitally Fit Awards celebrate organizations driving digital transformation across different industries. Avenews’ win reflects the growing role of fintech solutions in expanding access to finance for Kenya’s agricultural economy.
