CCTV captures two women involved in 14-month-old baby abduction in Dagoretti

One-year-and-two-month-old Dylan Muinde was allegedly taken on Monday afternoon from his home in Kangondo Village by two unknown women.

Police have since visited the scene and retrieved CCTV footage showing two women believed to have been involved in the alleged abduction.

The family is now appealing to the public for any information that could help identify the suspects and bring Dylan home.

CCTV footage captured at around 2:23 pm on Monday, September 7, appears to show the moments two women believed to be the suspects left the scene.

One of the women is seen carrying Dylan, while the other walks away with an older child who had been playing with the toddler.

Just moments earlier, Dylan's mother, Cindy Atieno, says she was inside the house when her mother called and offered to buy the baby some yoghurt.

It appeared to be an ordinary family moment, but when Cindy stepped outside moments later, her one-year-old son was nowhere to be seen.

Neighbours say they saw two unfamiliar women walking towards a nearby forest with the child.

The family immediately began searching for Dylan before reporting his disappearance at Kabete Police Station.

The distraught mother says the two women were strangers who claimed they were new to the area and were looking for a nearby shop.

According to the family, the women offered to help carry Dylan as they sent the older child to the shop on an errand. However, moments later, the women disappeared with the toddler.

“Sasa hao wamama walikuja wakapanda hapa, wakaambia huyo mtoto mkubwa wanatafuta duka, wakampa pesa wakamtuma kwa duka. Kurudi hao mama na mtoto hawakuwa,” Atieno stated.

Although police officers visited the scene on Monday and retrieved the CCTV footage, there has been no breakthrough so far in locating the child.

The family says it has continued following up on the case but remains concerned that Dylan could have already been moved from the area.

“Sisi tumekuwa tukifuatilia hii kesi lakini bado hatujapata mtoto, ndio tukasema tunaweza kuwa tumekaa tu na kumbe mtoto alishasafirishwa sisi tukingojea police. Tunaomba mtusaidie,” Enock Ratemo, a family member, stated.

Detectives at Kabete Police Station are now appealing to members of the public with any information that could help identify the two women or establish Dylan's whereabouts to come forward.
