KCB RFC interim head coach Andrew Noel Amonde has
expressed confidence in his team’s ability to reclaim the Kenya Cup title as
the new season kicks off on November 22, 2025.
The bankers, who last lifted the prestigious title
during the 2020/2021 season, are gearing up for a strong comeback as they seek to end Kabras Sugar's four-year dominance.
The team will open their campaign against Impala RFC
at the Den, a fixture expected to set the tone for their championship
ambitions.
Speaking during a Thanksgiving ceremony at the KCB
Sports Club, Ruaraka, on Friday afternoon, Amonde said: “We have had an
excellent pre-season, and the boys are showing great hunger and focus. Our
target is to bring the Kenya Cup trophy back home. The team spirit is strong,
and everyone understands the assignment ahead.”
The team has been strengthened by the arrival of 11
talented players, including Branton Lusisa Mulefu, Collins Odhiambo Oduor,
Clide Kimaya, George Ooro Ang’eyo, Haffith Muhammad, Ian Ogweno Oduor, John
Aswani Cleopas, Joseph Wanjala, Kelvin Ochieng Odhiambo, Mike Tyrel Oduor, and
Melvin Mweresa.
“We are excited to have these new faces join the KCB
family. They bring great talent, strength, and hunger, which will be vital for
us as we push to reclaim our place at the top. The team spirit is strong, and
we are ready to give our fans something to cheer about this season,” noted captain
Oscar Simiyu.
KCB was recently knocked out of the Impala Floodlit
tournament after a narrow 16-13 loss to archrivals Menengai Oilers a fortnight
ago.
They will now face varsity side Strathmore Leos this
weekend in the fifth-place final at the RFUEA Grounds.
