The activists are now calling on East African heads of state to address the alarming abduction trend in the region and allow for freedom of speech.
Activist Maryanne Kasina said that they will now relent until they get answers on the whereabouts of their colleagues, raising an alarm on the swift silencing of anti-government activists through abductions.
"For five days, we do not know their whereabouts, and an injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Seeing what has been happening in the context of abduction in our country, the people must be listened to," she said.
Oyoo and Njagi were abducted on October 1 in Uganda by four armed men believed to be security officials.
The two, who had joined National Unity Platform presidential candidate Bobi Wine’s campaign trail on Tuesday, were reportedly forced into a vehicle and their phones switched off.
A friend who escaped the ordeal claims the incident is linked to their support for Bobi Wine.
The alleged abduction comes after Nagi's abduction last year alongside the Longton brothers over alleged links to anti-government protests in Kenya. He disappeared for more than a month.
The incidents come just four months after Kenyan activist Boniface Mwangi and Ugandan activist Agather Atuhaire were arrested in Tanzania and later dumped near their countries’ borders. Both would later claim they were sexually assaulted by Tanzanian authorities.
