The award recognises the lender’s shift to a segment-led operating model, which has restructured its business around Private and Personal Banking, Business Banking, and Corporate & Investment Banking. The approach has allowed the bank to serve customers across entire value chains while strengthening advisory services and customer engagement.
During the review period, Absa Bank Kenya posted improved profitability in its 2024 full-year results, supported by tighter cost controls and a more diversified income base, even as the banking sector faced pressure from a challenging operating environment.
According to The Banker, the bank’s repositioning marked a move away from a product-driven model to a customer segmentation strategy, which enhanced customer value and deepened relationships across key market segments.
Commenting on the recognition, Absa Bank Kenya Managing Director and CEO Abdi Mohamed said the award reflected the progress of the bank’s ongoing transformation and its focus on aligning services with customer needs and financial realities.
Absa has continued to invest in digital channels, distribution expansion in growth corridors, and advisory capabilities as part of its long-term strategy to build a more resilient and customer-focused business.
