In a bid to curb road accidents along Kenya’s busy Northern Corridor, AA Kenya has launched the ‘Msamaria Mwema’ Road Safety Campaign and Medical Camp at Railways Stage, Nakuru County.

The initiative comes ahead of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on November 16, aiming to raise awareness about the human and economic toll of road crashes.

The campaign began with a solemn visit to Sachangwan, a stretch of road notorious for fatal accidents.

Wreaths were laid in memory of lives lost, sending a stark message about the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of preventive action.

The two-day campaign has attracted over 600 participants, including PSV drivers, long-distance truckers, boda boda riders, and taxi operators.

Attendees receive training in defensive driving, first-aid certification, and emergency response, equipping them to act as first responders during accidents.

Beyond training, participants also benefit from eye, dental, ENT, and general wellness screenings, as well as awareness sessions on mental health, fatigue management, NTSA licensing compliance, and financial literacy, including insurance guidance.

Speaking at the launch, Allan Ogola, County Traffic Enforcement Officer and Chairman of CTOs, emphasized the importance of prevention: “Empowering drivers with life-saving knowledge is critical. Every accident prevented is a life saved.”

Francis Theuri, GMD of AA Kenya, highlighted the broader impact of the initiative: “Road safety is a shared responsibility. Training drivers costs far less than the burials, hospital bills, and trauma that follow road crashes. ‘Msamaria Mwema’ reflects our commitment to saving lives and reducing suffering.”

John Jinja Parteroi, NTSA Nakuru Regional Manager, noted that collaboration is key: “Working together among road safety stakeholders ensures greater compliance, awareness, and accountability along our roads.”

AA Kenya continues to urge all road users to drive responsibly, observe traffic rules, and prioritize safety, reinforcing a vision of a Kenya where everyone reaches their destination safely.
