90,020 Kenyans have registered as voters in the Continuous Voter Registration(CVR) exercise that began on September 29, 2025.

A report from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) shows that Nairobi, Kiambu and Machakos take the lead in the voter registration numbers with 16,512, 9,917 and 4,026 voters respectively.

As of October 31, the CVR exercise saw 15,619 voters transfer their votes to alternative polling stations and 188 updates.

"The Commission notes steady progress as more citizens take advantage of this opportunity to register as new voters, transfer their registration to preferred polling stations, or update their details where necessary," IEBC stated.

Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kiambu counties also lead in the total number of transferred voters with 5,388, 1,791 and 1,766 voters changing polling stations, respectively.

Counties that registered the least number of new voters include Tana River (130), Marsabit (284) and Isiolo (312).

Other counties like Tana River, Wajir, Mandera, Isiolo and Nandi have zero transferred voters.

"The Commission reaffirms its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring that every eligible Kenyan has the opportunity to play their part in shaping the country’s democratic future."

The voter registration exercise began on September 29, 2025, in preparation for the 2027 General Elections.

The IEBC targeted 6.3 million new voters who have attained 18 years.

There have been concerns about the slow registration process and also the data collected during the voter registration process, like the iris scan.

The Elections Observation Group (ELOG) has called on the IEBC to clarify how the iris scan data collected will be stored and used.

ELOG raised concerns stating that in as much as the iris scan could enhance voter verification, it also raises public concern over privacy and data protection.
