5 injured after knife-wielding man storms church in Kisii

The man disrupted the church service, stabbing members of the congregation including Kisii Central OCPD, who was attending the church service.
The attacker was neutralised and arrested by Kisii police officers. The knife has also been recovered.
The five people who sustained various injuries were admitted at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.
The incident follows a July 20, 2024 altercation witnessed in another church in Kisii, which saw 10 people injured.
The 10 were hospitalised after sustaining various injuries in a brawl that broke out at Nyabigena Adventist Church in South Mugirango, Kisii County, between two opposing factions in a dispute over the church's leadership.
Reports indicate that the factions comprise members from the Adventist Church and the Nairobi Cosmopolitan Conference (NCC), which reportedly split from the Adventist house of worship. Despite the separation, both groups continue to hold services on the same grounds on Saturdays.
