A 12-year-old boy died on Thursday evening after being electrocuted at Got Kokech Village in Homa Bay County. The deceased, identified as Brighton Eddy, was a Grade Four pupil at Got Kokech Comprehensive School. He was reportedly grazing animals within the school compound when the tragic incident occurred. According to the school headteacher, Elly Kisulu, the boy had been sent by his father to graze the family’s livestock but chose to take them to the school compound, where he met his untimely death. Kisulu said the boy came into contact with an earth wire from an electric pole that had a live current, leading to instant electrocution. The body was later moved to the Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary. Confirming the incident, Kothidha North Sub-Location Assistant Chief Paul Onyango urged parents to be more vigilant with their children during the long holiday to prevent similar tragedies.
